"Becoming Neighbors" with LUMUNOS
LUMUNOS offers a pathway forward to restore & connect the parts of humanity that have been lost during a time of deep division & social isolation. At our core, human story compliments & transcends our political, cultural, and religious differences.
The Becoming Neighbors programs help build bridges of understanding, trust, and cooperation. The goal is to bring people of different backgrounds together for meaningful, facilitated conversations around a variety of matters. Let’s discover shared values and put them into action.
This event is FREE to the public. Visit Becoming Neighbors Brevard: Turning Strangers into Neighbors and Friends - Lumunos for more info.

Building the Backyard Homestead
Building a highly productive homestead is best accomplished using incremental steps that increase your workload and skillset overtime.
❖ Leah will discuss the seven stages and corresponding inputs sheʼs used to slowly build her diverse homestead using no-dig, no-till, deep organic practices that are applicable for both rural and urban settings.
❖ Her own homestead was built on just three quarters of an acre in an urban community and started with just a few beds. She slowly expanded to include berries and fruit trees, perennial crops, four season growing, storage crops, and eggs.
❖ Participants will learn how to dream big while setting realistic and achievable homesteading goals.
❖ Note: This class is based on Leahʼs book: The Seven-Step Homestead. Copies will be available for sale

Meal Plan Your Way to Better Health
When Leah learned that her son had severe food allergies and that her daughter had cystic fibrosis, she knew that a healthy diet would play an integral part of her children’s care. But learning to get organized in the kitchen amidst life’s busyness felt like an impossible task. Leah slowly learned to master the art of meal planning and prep using bulk shopping, freezing foods, and planning. Her techniques are effective enough for those needing to follow the strictest of diets, but easy enough for those who don’t necessarily love to cook or plan, but also understand the importance of home cooked meals. Leah will provide an overview of the techniques that have enabled her to spend a minimal amount of time in the kitchen while serving her family as many made-from-scratch meals as she can.

Backyard Greenhouse Growing
Greenhouses offer several unique opportunities for the home gardener or homesteader including longer growing seasons, better protected cool season crops, and enhanced ability to successfully grow starts from seed. Leah will share the numerous ways that her 315 square foot greenhouse has transformed her growing abilities and ultimately resulted in higher yields with less effort. She’ll discuss greenhouse options, construction considerations, limitations and benefits, greenhouse specific growing methods, and tips and tricks for growing your most amazing seedlings to date.
